Getting there:By Air: Jomalig has an airstrip, so if you have the resources, you can get a chartered plane or a helicopter and reach the island in less than 40 minutes from Manila. Land and Sea: There are two options to get there by boat. You can take a passenger boat from Real, Atimonan or rent a boat in Panganiban in Camarines Norte. If you are coming from Manila, the nearest port of entry will be in Real Quezon. To reach Real Quezon, you can take an Infanta bound bus in Legarda Manila or look for a Van that follows the same route. An Aircon Bus fare is at around P195 and takes four to five hours to reach Real Quezon. Once in Real, hire a rickshaw (tricycle-taxi) and tell the driver to bring you to Jomalig port (not Puerto Real). A boat ride costs P200 to P350, and includes a simple meal freshly cooked by the boat crew. If you are lucky, you can catch the Sea Ambulance—the town’s official boat which only charges P100 per way, but with no included meal. Getting Around Transportation on the island is only by a tricycle or habal-habal. If you want to explore different islands in Jomalig, some local fishermen’s boats are available for rent. The small boats are normally rented for only P2,000, while the medium sized boats are usually rented for P4,000 for a whole day of island hopping. - See more at: http://outoftownblog.com/jomalig-island-hidden-paradise-found/#sthash.j1iUCJc9.dpuf Where to Stay There is only one resort in this island municipality, which is owned and operated by one of the Municipal Councilors. Honestly, I only joined this tour because of the POLILIO TRIP. I've been wanting to go there since 2012, the problem is it's far and the fare is expensive. It was first organized late last year but it was cancelled due to the few number of participants. Good thing, it was rescheduled this year, summer time. Our team leader was so brilliant, the she thought of adding an outreach program that made it more meaningful and interesting. I did not plan anymore for this, it was all planned and organized by our team leader. We met at Shaw boulevard and hired a van going to Real, Quezon. It was a long 5-hour drive. When we reached the place, which is the jump off, we discovered that the boat that will bring us to the island boarded the wrong group. We were all irritated because of what happened. We waited from 1PM 'til 8PM for the boat. The boat ride lasted for 5 to 6 hours, we arrived at Jomalig port around 2 AM. We immediately went to the place where we stayed (Town mayor's house), freshen up, prepared the things needed for the outreach program and rested. Welcome to Jomalig! @Jomalig portOutreach and Feeding Program of BOPWhat made this trip special was our main purpose of going to the place. Aside from backpacking and enjoying the place, we planned to have an outreach program in a poor barangay in Salibungot beach. All the donations came from our pockets. We prepared school supplies for more than 200 students and cooked a big pot of soup for them. After the outreach program, we felt so happy and fulfilled. We made our holy week very meaningful. It also gave us the energy to enjoy what's in store for us in that hidden paradise. In short, we started our adventure and explored the island. @ Salibungot BeachWhat an awesome beach! That's what we were all thinking during that time. Exploring the beautiful and virgin Salibungot beach Bonding time with BOP members
