Cebu Province (Cebuano: Lalawigan sa Sugbo, Filipino: Lalawigan ng Cebu), Tagalog pronunciation: ['sebu]) is a province in the Philippines, consisting of Cebu Island and 167 surrounding islands. Its capital is Cebu City, the oldest city in the Philippines, which forms part of the Cebu Metropolitan Area together with four neighboring cities which include Danao City, Lapu-Lapu City, Mandaue City and Talisay City and eight other local government units. Mactan-Cebu International Airport, located in Mactan island, is the second busiest airport in the Philippines. Cebu is one of the most developed provinces in the Philippines, with Cebu City as the main center of commerce, trade, education and industry in the Visayas. Condé Nast Traveler Magazine named Cebu the 7th best island destination in the Indian Ocean-Asia region in 2007,[3] 8th best Asian-Pacific island destination in 2005, 7th in 2004 and in 2009, with popular tourist destinations such as Mactan Island and Moalboal. In a decade it has transformed into a global hub for furniture making, tourism, business processing services, and heavy industry. From Airport to Cebu City I had a hard time finding out how to reach Cebu city from the airport since I always want to know how to commute so I could save. Of course, always bear in mind that asking other people is still your best reference. I asked the guard where can I ride a jeep/cab going to Cebu city. The guard directed me to the other exit wherein you need to go upstairs. I headed that way and finally I saw cabs waiting for passenger. Based on my research, I need to ride there and get off to the mall where the jeep going to SM Cebu parks and wait for passenger too. The mall is just few minutes away, around 10-15 minutes. It is hard to see the mall since the cab will pass at the back part of the mall. Just sit beside or behind the driver so you can remind him every now and then. After getting off the cab, there's a jeep waiting across the street bound for SM CEBU, the problem is, you need to wait for a long time since the driver is waiting for more passengers. VISITING THE TOURIST SPOTS! From SM City Cebu, just walk going to the terminal of jeep. Do not hesitate to ask the driver and barker. The number of the jeep depends on its route. I told the driver that I want to go to Magellan' s Cross then he told me what jeep to ride. From the cross, Sto. Nino church is just few steps away. I went back to SM Cebu after to get my phone in tourist depot and my other bag. It is now time to check in at the hotel. I hailed a taxi going to the hotel. I rested for a while and then i am ready for my next adventure. DInner at the famous LARSIAN! Went back to the hotel and rest. ETD! Day 2: Another Memorable Adventure! I woke up early so I could reach my next destination. According to my research, the travel will last for more than 3 hours from Cebu city to OSLOB CEBU. What will I do there? Hmmmmmm.. I just heard that I can see WHALESHARKS there! The Bus terminal going to the south of Cebu is just walking distance from my hotel. Thanks to the MAP APPLICATION of my phone. It took me 3 hours to get to the location. Actually there's a lot of resorts offering whale shark watching. Just always remind the conductor of the bus to drop you off at the specific place/name of the resort. I paid worth 500 pesos for it. You will really save a lot if there's a lot of you who will avail the tour. Before the tour, you need to be briefed with the rules and regulation. It was such a GREEEEEEEAAAAAAAAATTTTTTTTTTT experience seeing and swimming with these gentle giants! To be honest, I got frightened with them, why? because they are really huge and I imagined what if they bite me? or whip me with their massive tails. I also cannot forget the time when a huge one passed under our small boat. It's like as big as one bus. The boatmen in Oslob became tourist guides. They feed the whale sharks with prawn/small shrimps and according to the blog that read, that's the reason why they just stayed in that place. I also watched a documentary complaining about the practice in Oslob. That the government shouldn't allow this practice anymore. Whale sharks are supposed to be migratory animals and they should not stay in one place. I don't know what entered my mind causing me to tell the boatman that I am already done and I don't like anymore. We went back to the resort, I took a shower and bought a souvenir and snacks before catching a bus back to Cebu city. It was really such an unforgettable 30 minutes of my life! After the breathtaking whale shark watching, another one followed..................... WALKING IN THE SKY! And for that, you need to go to Crown Regency. And here is my certificate, I did it! Days 3 and 4: Going to the NorthBANTAYAN ISLAND... here I come! To get to Bantayan island, you need to ride a boat; LANTSA. It took me more than an hour to reach the island. I feel so blessed to experience this moment. When I reached the fort of Sta. Fe, the free shuttle (tryc) was waiting for me. ACCOMMODATION: I stayed in Kiwi Cottages (sorry, I forgot the exact name) worth P750 per night. The room was so nice the only disadvantage is, you need to walk from 3-5 minutes to get to the beach. KIWI COTTAGES CONTACT NUMBER (Oct. 2012): 09206681268 Early Morning Tour at Bantayan IslandMorning View at Bantayan IslandBeautiful Sunset in Bantayan Island I stayed in Bantayan island for just one day. The place was so nice and peaceful. When it comes to foods, they have the usual grill/ihaw-ihaw/BBQ. Just go to the highway (but it is a 2-way road only) wherein you can see restaurants and eateries. The price is just the same in Cebu proper.
